What is a Building Automation System?

Building Automation Systems, also known as energy management systems - are an automated, computer-controlled method of controlling and managing the energy uses in a building to reduce and optimize energy expenses - at the same time maintaining a comfortable environment.  Building Automation Systems are present in more than half of all buildings in the U.S. that are larger than 100,000 square feet.

Building Automation Systems may also include a Security Management System as well as a Fire Alarm System.

What are Buildings of the Future?

Buildings of the Future are totally sustainable, built with all sustainable materials, include rainwater collection and at the heart of all Buildings of the Future, are "Net Zero Energy" systems, which allow the building owner to operate with or without connection to the electric utility.

What is Controls Engineering?

Controls Engineering, also referred to as Control Engineering or Control Systems Engineering, is the field of engineering that applies control theory to design systems with predictable outcomes.

In practice, Controls Engineers utilize sensors that measures the output performance of the whatever device, machine or process is being controlled.  These measurements provide real-time and precise feedback to the input actuators that can make corrections toward the desired or optimum performance.

Controls Engineering is recognized as a "multi-disciplinary" profession and the engineers focus much of their efforts on the implementation of control systems using mathematical modeling of these systems for a wide range of uses and applications.

What is "Net Zero Energy?"

Net Zero Energy - when applied to a home or commercial building, simply means that they generate as much power and energy as they consume, when measured on an annual basis.

The U.S. Army now has a Net Zero Energy initiative to help reduce/eliminate America's use of foreign oil - particularly oil from muslim/middle-east countries - which literally saves the lives of our brave boys /soldiers in the military.
